Dhanush's unmatched gratitude
While national award-winning actor Dhanush has sported various avatars of a producer, singer, lyricist in the past, he is adding yet another feather to his cap now! The star wields the megaphone for the first time in his forthcoming flick Power Paandi.
Many director-turned-actors (including Power Paandi’s hero Rajkiran), have stated that they feel acting is easier than direction. But, Dhanush’s role-reversal of sorts comes as a surprise to many.
Though the Aadukalam star has been in the news for various controversies, he looked calm and composed while making a style statement in his traditional veshti, as he talks about his new journey.
“The world has good, bad, love, hatred, Yin and Yang. You are the sum of all your actions and when you do good — you can expect the same to happen to you. When you do positive things, you feel happy and that’s precisely Power Paandi’s theme,” the actor starts off on a philosophical note.
Talking about the genre of the film, he says, “I have conveyed an important message in PP, which is prevalent in the society even today.” Though he did not go into details, we learnt that the story revolves around the premise that people above 60 years of age, among the middle-class families are being neglected by the younger generation. The film imparts a message — that the elderly have abundant life lessons, experiences and knowledge which the future generation should make use of.
The Kodi actor adds, “I wrote the script a year and half ago. Rajkiran sir is a blessing — the late legend Balu Mahendra sir used to state that a good script would pick up what it wants — and just like that, Rajkiran sir happened to Power Paandi!”
Intriguingly, Dhanush’s dad Kasthuri Raja made his directorial debut way back in 1991 with the movie En Rasavin Manasile — which had Rajkiran as the lead hero too! “As a child, I used to ape Rajkiran sir’s ‘Mayaandi’ character’s mannerisms from the film while watching him on the sets. He was my superhero then! My family owes a lot to ‘Mayaandi’ and without him, we are nobody,” Dhanush said in a choked voice.
He elaborates, “Rajkiran sir’s greatness was proved once again when he agreed to act in my debut film without even asking for the script narration. I have no words to thank him for having faith in my abilities.”
“Revathy madam with her vast experience did everything in just a single shot,” praises Dhanush, also heaping laurels on composer, Sean Roldan, for his earthy, spirited and noiseless music.
