Saamy, which was released in 2003, turned out to be a special film for the team of director Hari, Harris Jayaraj, and actors Vikram and Trisha. The film became a blockbuster and a noteworthy project in their respective careers.
Now, all three are reuniting for the sequel! Producer Shibu Thameens will be bankrolling this venture. While the plans for Saamy 2 were announced at the audio launch of Iru Mugan a few months back, it is only now that they could get Trisha on board. Speaking to DC, Hari says, “We feel extremely happy to bring same team together for the sequel which is happening after 13 years. Naturally, Saamy 2 will be on a bigger scale and I hope the audience enjoys the sequel more than they enjoyed Saamy.”
About the pre-production, he reveals, “Saamy 2 will go on floors in June or July. We are now giving final touches to our script and are scouting for locations. The cast and crew will be announced in the coming months. We have also roped in cinematographer Priyan who did the prequel as well.”
It is also rumoured that the team is on the lookout for another heroine for the film.
