Look who dons khaki again!

Simran essays the role of a cop alongside Arvind Swami.

Simran, who was last seen as a ‘love guru’ in Parthiban’s Koditta Idangalai Nirappuga, has been roped in for a key character in the Arvind Swami film, which is tentatively titled Vanagamudi. Directed by noted filmmaker Selvah, Swami will play an upright cop with Ritika Singh playing his romantic interest.

It looks like the Kannathil Mutthamittal actress has got a substantial role after a long gap. Close production sources say that Simran will also be donning khaki in the film and will appear throughout the movie.

Confirming the news, she tells DC, “Yes, it is a powerful role of a police officer and is meaty, as well. I can’t divulge much more at this point.”

Though she essayed the role of a cop and made an extended cameo appearance in Karaiyoram, this is totally different, vouches the director’s source, who also denies talks of her playing a bad cop — “She will be seen in a positive, yet aggressive role in this film.”

Also, it is learnt that Simran has been given references in terms of looks, body language, etc., and the effervescent actress has already geared up with her preparation. Apart from the lead pair and Simran, the film bankrolled by Ganesh has an ensemble cast including Nandhitha, Chandini, Hasini, Thambi Ramaiah, Harish Utthaman, Raj Kapoor and Nagineedu.
