Bollywood actor Om Puri will make his K’town debut with an emotional horror flick, Shenbaga Kottai. The recent Malayalam hit, Aadupuliyaatam, starring Jayaram and Ramya Krishnan, is now slated to be made in Tamil as SK.
Director Thamarai Kannan has denied rumours that the film will be dubbed. “When
I made the original, I had planned for a trilingual,” he claims, adding, “There are Tamil characters and the story unfolds in Pazhani. We could not release the film simultaneously due to unavoidable reasons. I have now added more scenes involving Ramya and Sampath.”
On Om Puri’s role, he affirms, “For the role of a tantrik, I was very particular that Om Puri plays the impactful character,” adding, “Although he has worked in Malayalam films around 20 years back, he was not too keen initially when we approached him. Later, the producer and I met him in Mumbai and narrated the script. He was very impressed and agreed immediately. He has now worked on the film for about 16 days and it has been an enriching experience. Despite his huge stature, he is so simple and down to earth, and made no demands (on us).”
