It's my habit, says Rajinikanth over Yogi Adityanath controversy

Rajinikanth said that touching feet is a part of his personal tradition to show respect to yogis and sanyasis, regardless of their age

Chennai: Renowned Tamil superstar Rajinikanth addressed the recent controversy surrounding his act of touching Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's feet during a meeting in Lucknow last Saturday. Rajinikanth clarified that this gesture is part of his personal tradition to show respect to yogis and sanyasis, regardless of their age.

Upon returning to Chennai on Monday night following his travels, Rajinikanth briefly engaged with the media at the airport. When questioned about the incident involving him touching the UP CM's feet, Rajinikanth reiterated his stance, stating, "It is my customary practice to seek the blessings of yogis and sanyasis by touching their feet, even if they are younger than me. This is a tradition I have upheld."

Rajinikanth also took a moment to express his gratitude to the public for the tremendous success of his recent film, Jailer. When probed about his thoughts on the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the superstar declined to delve into political matters.

During his visit to Uttar Pradesh, Rajinikanth organized a special screening of Jailer, which was attended by UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya. Additionally, he paid a visit to Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav at his residence.
