Vivek's moving letter

His letter starts by saying, Whenever I think about him, tears fill my eyes and even my pen cries.

The whole of Kollywood grieved when actor Vivek’s son, Prasanna Kumar (14), passed away last October due to brain fever. The heartbroken comedian decided to stay quiet, and shunned the media. Now, he has come up with a moving letter in which he shares the memories of his son.

His letter starts by saying, “Whenever I think about him, tears fill my eyes and even my pen cries.” Talking about Prasanna Kumar’s characteristics, Vivek goes on to write, “He was not the kind who speaks much. His life revolved around his piano, Amar Chitra Katha, football, video games and a close circle of friends.”

The actor also went on to describe his son’s caring nature at that young age — “Whenever he used to see a dog on the street, he would bring it home and ask me if we could adopt it.” Sharing his experiences as his father, Vivek wrote, “During the days when I didn’t have a shoot, I would take him to tea shops and buy him bun and buiscuits. Further, I never used to scold or punish him.”

Prasanna Kumar was also a favorite of the legends in the industry, “Whenever Ilaiyaraja saw him, he would embrace him affectionately. A R Rahman took a photo along with my son near his piano.” Vivek also has a piece of advice for parents, asking them not to think of “parenting as a responsibility, but as an art.”

On a concluding note, Vivek fondly remembered his son asking him to drink water regularly — “He had an application in my mobile. Even now, I get the message saying ‘Please drink water Daddy by prasanna’.”
