Vijay, who skipped the Nadigar Sangam’s silent protest, was spotted sitting with lakhs of youth, who were protesting to lift the ban on jallikattu at Marina beach on the same day (Friday). It is said that Ilayathalapthy visited the beach — the epicentre of jallikattu protest in TN — well past midnight and sat among the public, raising pro-jallikattu slogans. He was seen covering his face with a handkerchief so that his presence would not distract others.
Earlier, many youngsters criticised Nadigar Sangam’s protest as they felt that the stars might divert media focus towards them. A close source to the Bairavaa star tells us that respecting the sentiments of youngsters, Vijay didn’t attend SIAA’s protest and wanted to experience the unprecedented movement spearheaded by the youth of Tamil Nadu.
