Actor Karthi, basking in the success of his Diwali offering Kaidhi, will be seen in Thambi, directed by Jeetu Joseph of Drishyam and Papanasam fame. The director recently revealed that Thambi, with Jyotika and Karthi in the lead, is based on a documentary. Bollywood director Rensil De Silva had written a story based on the documentary, which inspired Jeetu to come out with the screenplay for Thambi.
“It is a family drama thriller, set in Mettupalayam,” Jeetu says. While Jo and Karthi essay siblings, ace Sathyaraj and Seetha portray their parents. The film also stars Nikhila Vimal as Karthi’s pair and Ammu Abhirami whom we recently saw in Asuran. Veteran actress Sowcar Janaki has been roped in for a pivotal role. Govind Vasantha has composed the music. Bankrolled by Viacom 18 and Jyothika’s brother Suraj Sadanah, the movie is expected to hit the screens on Dec. 20.
