Suriya denies reports that he demanded a huge sum for taking part in a religious event — Maha Hindu Ilaignar Ottrumai Vizha, which is to be held in Malaysia.
Refuting the report which appeared in a Malaysian magazine and has been spreading virally, he said, “I have no clue about this event and no one approached me either, in this regard.”
He added, “Moreover, I am a person who never participates in religious functions. I do agree I am active in social causes and attend functions for which I don’t take money. I have a policy of not accepting cash to attend any function.
There’s no truth in the report which is being circulated. I have nothing to do with that Malaysian event Maha Hindu Ilaignar Ottrumai Vizha as well. If the organisers misuse my name, I will take legal action on them.”
