Ram tries his hand at a city slicker saga
National Award-winning filmmaker Ram takes his own time to weave his tales. After a gap, the director is now coming out with a city-based flick Taramani — a love story that delves into the numerous dimensions of a male-female relationship in contemporary life. While Andrea Jeremiah plays an Anglo-Indian girl, debutant Vasanth Ravi plays her co-star. Ram also has roped in Anjali who’s busy with Tollywood films for a pivotal role; after all he was the one who introduced the Angadi Theru actress in K’town.
Heaping laurels on his heroines, Ram tells DC, “Andrea is a wonderful actress. She is one among few in Tamil cinema who can speak Tamil properly and has a command over the language. Anjali, who wow me in my debut film Kattradhu Tamizh as Anandhi once again floored me with her performance in Taramani as Apoorva Sowmya.”
Ram goes on, “Andrea essays Alethea, a straightforward, strong and highly self-esteemed city girl. While the hero Vasanth as Prabhunath, is an ordinary guy who hails from a village named Coovum, and comes to the city.”
On projecting his female characters as strong women Ram says —“I honestly feel women are stronger than men — so it is but natural that my scripts also portray them that way.”
Contrary to his earlier serious films, Taramani will be lighthearted and entertaining. The screenplay and narration is very friendly, reveals Ram. “One will be able to relate with the characters in the film,” he claims. While Chennai is commonly considered as north and south Chennai, Ram says that he is introducing a third and new Chennai, through this flick as well!
