Balaji returns with a love-and-betrayal story
Actor Balaji who started his career with Kadhal Solla Vandhen, returns after a gap with director Markx’s Nagarvalam, which hits the marquee today. He plays a metro water lorry driver in the film, which has Deekshitha Manikkam as his pair. Speaking about his film, Markx says, “Nagarvalam is not a film on water scarcity, but a love story with a twist. The story is set in the backdrop of a housing board in Chennai. Balaji’s character meets a girl and falls for her instantly. The problems he faces at work and whether he unites with his lover or not forms the crux. The story has also dealt with betrayal which forms the major element of the film.”
Deekshitha comes as girl from a tenement house, who awaits her college admission. “The first half is high on humour with Yogi Babu and Balasaravanan providing the laughs — then it takes a turn post-interval. The second half is filmed during the night with rain as the backdrop,” the director reveals. Pasupathy has been roped in for a cameo in a dance sequence for a gana number. Markx concludes saying, “It has an unpredictable screenplay, that’s the highlight of the movie.”
