Major Gautham turns filmmaker
These are testing times for the film industry as they are reeling under the pressure of PM Modi’s demonetisation policy. In line with the present situation, the debut directorial venture of actor turned filmmaker Major Gautham is aptly titled Kanla Kaasa Kaattappa (First show me the money)! Gautham, son of yesteryear veteran actor Major Sundarrajan, talks about how his dream of directing a film has finally come true.
Gautham started his film career by appearing in special songs, which was eventually followed by a meaty role in Mani Ratnam’s Iruvar. The actor says that he had always had hopes of becoming a filmmaker and with Kanla Kaasa Kaattappa, they have finally come true.
“Thanks to the unconditional support lent by my family — my wife (dancer Kokila) and my mom who stood with me for the past 20 years. KKK was possible only because of my friends — Sugar, dance master Kalyan, and cinematographer Arvind who joined hands with me in producing the film,” Gautham revealed at the promo event.
While Arvind Akash turns hero for the first time, the film has Chandini and Ashwathi starring opposite him. Choreographer Kalyan has essayed the important role of a don. MS Bhaskar and Vichu Vishwanath will also be seen in prominent roles.
Speaking on the occasion, Chandini said, “So far, I have been playing the girl-next-door. For the first time, I am attempting a character that is highly glamorous. The story demanded me to sport glitzy outfits and I want to thank Gautham for trusting that I could pull it off!”
