Director Sundar C’s Aranmanai joined the horror-comedy bandwagon in 2014 and went on to become one of the blockbuster hits of the year. With a stellar cast, the film had the right amount of spookiness and comedy blended together. After two years, the film is all set to get a reboot in Kannada.
Sandalwood’s famous producer, Ramesh Yadav who has the credit of distributing more than 50 Tamil films in Karnataka has bagged the Kannada remake rights of Aranmanai and will be remaking it as Apthamithra 2 in Sandalwood. However, we hear that the reboot version will not be a frame-to-frame remake, but an adaptation. “The core story will be retained and our story will be revamped according to the tastes of the Kannada people,” added the source.
Rumour has it that legendary filmmaker P Vasu might be helming this venture. Currently, the pre-production work is underway and the cast and crew will be announced in the coming months. Aranmanai starred Hansika, Vinay Rai, Sundar C, Andrea Jeremiah, Raai Laxmi and Santhanam in important roles.
