Not publicity gimmick: Kannada actress Sanjanna Galrani on nude video leaked online
Mumbai: Kannada actress Sanjanna Galrani’s alleged nude video from her film ‘Dandupalya 2’ has been leaked online. The explicit video from the film features the actress being stripped off by few men who are torturing her. However, this infamous scene did not make it to the film’s final cut, courtesy regional board’s objection.
As per a report on Bollywoodlife, the actress was being ignored by the film’s team, and was giving undue attention to her co-actress in the film, Pooja Gandhi, due to which Sanjanna refrained from promoting ‘Dandupalya 2,’ which raised eyebrows to know if this was a publicity gimmick.
To which, the actress clarified to Public TV, saying, “This leak is not a publicity stunt. ‘Dandupalya 2’ is already doing well. So, there is no need for such publicity. We shot something and I am seeing something else here.”
The actress evidently is quite fumed with anger and saddened over the issue, and denies from she shooting it nude for the film’s scene.
Appalled by it, she spoke to Times of India, "Yes. I shot for it, but I was not nude. I have pictures that show my body parts covered up with a towel that were clicked in my caravan. What is eventually seen in the film is the result of computer colour grading, which was made to show the scene in that fashion. My character, Chandri, is a victim of sexual abuse in this scene, so this was meant to showcase that. I am appalled at how the scene has been circulated by people and has been shown repeatedly on media platforms. It shocks me that people want to share content like this among themselves."
Speaking about the conduct of the scene Sanjjanaa told the leading publication, "I knew I was shooting a bold scene and that it would be 'sensational' in terms of how the word is used in the industry. As actors, we are fully aware of what is being shot, but we have no control on how it is being picturized. I thought it would be shot aesthetically, but the way it has been picturized is downright vulgar. The fault is in the making. It might have been shot like that keeping the mass audience in mind."
Like other team members, Sanjanna, too is expecting the video to be taken down. She says "The scene is not even in the film, so the question about who leaked it is obviously restricted to the core team. If it was uploaded through a computer, we could have tracked the source. This has gone viral on Whatsapp first, and that is making it difficult to track the source. I have a team working on removing all links and related content that has been appearing online."
"My family is in a state of panic, but they are, of course, being supportive and standing by me," added the Kannada actress.
The publication when contacted ‘Dandupalya 2’ director Srinivasa Raju to ask about the leaked video and its content, he said, "I've no comments on that. It is a deleted scene. We will talk once we make headway in the matter."
Despite all these controversies, the film is doing a good business at the Box Office.
