Everyone will connect to Thiri's theme: Ashwin Kakumanu
Ashwin Kakumanu and Swathy Reddy are coming together after Idharkku Thaane Aasaipattai Balakumara for Thiri, a film that deals with education. The movie focuses on the father-son bonding and Jayaprakash will be seen as Ashwin’s father. Debutant Ashok Amirtharaj directs the movie.
“It is a beautiful subject and when Ashok sir narrated the script, I gave my nod. I play Jeeva, who is just out of college. His father is a school teacher and a straight-forward person. But an untoward incident happens to Jeeva, which turns their lives topsy-turvy,” begins Ashwin, adding, “It is a very lively script.”
Though Swathy plays the lead heroine, there is no separate love track between them, Ashwin discloses. “She is my neighbour in the movie and essays a bubbly role. There are no specific romance episodes, but whatever there is, is dealt in a very subtle way. She has an important part to play,” he shares.
Heaping praises on Jayaprakash, he quips, “JP sir’s brilliant performance is one of the highlights of the movie.” On her part, Swathy thanked the press and audiences for supporting and respecting her with the same enthusiasm despite being on and off in Tamil cinema.
