Though composer SS Thaman concentrates more on Telugu cinema, he makes sure he stays in touch with Kollywood, as well. He is currently working on director Vijay Chandar’s upcoming film, which has Vikram and Tamannaah in the lead roles.
The composing work for the movie is progressing at a brisk pace. Speaking to DC, Thaman says, “I have already finished three love songs for the movie. Vikram sir listened to the tunes and liked it. Kabilan, Vivek and Vignesh Shivan have penned the lyrics for these songs. We are now concentrating on the introduction number, a theme song and another song. Vijay has brought great lyricists on board. He will be penning the lyrics for the theme song while Rokesh and Thamarai will write for the remaining songs.”
Thaman and Vijay’s friendship goes back a long way. “We collaborated for Vaalu and since then we have been in touch. For this project, we have been working for more than six months. This will be a great film and it will be competition to Dhruva Natchathiram for which Vikram sir is simultaneously shooting,” he adds.
Delving into the background score, Thaman reveals, “It has a cult-like BGM, and we are planning to use symphony and EDM. The second half of the movie has a great scope for BGM while the first half has cute romantic portions between Vikram and Tamannaah. We are planning for a surprise launch on April 17 (Vikram’s birthday) for the fans.”
Thaman will soon be joining hands with Ilayathalapathy Vijay for a yet untitled film and another project with Kuttram 23 director Arivazhagan is on the cards....
