Hollywood animator Samy Fecih on board Tamizhanaanen 1
Tamizhanaanen .1 is an upcoming flick that advocates violence against women. The film is directed by Satish Ramakrishnan, a martial art exponent and MBA graduate who has not trained under any filmmaker. The self-taught Satish is passionate about portraying his ideas on celluloid, which is why he has entered tinsel town.
Talking about his film, Satish says, “The movie explores the ancient Tamil martial arts like Silambam, Kuthu Varisai, Varma Kalai etc and has a social message. It also stresses the need for women to learn the arts for self-defence. I adore ancient Tamil martial arts, which will slowly die out, which is why I did quite a bit of research on them. I got the opportunity to meet Hollywood animator Samy Fecih, who has worked in films like Avatar, Iron Man and the Harry Potter series. He is also a master in Capoeira, the Brazilian martial arts which combines elements of dance, acrobatics and music. That meeting led me to develop an interest in filmmaking (smiles).”
He adds, “When I wanted to venture into films, I chose my pet topic. And with the present increasing scenario of crimes against women, I have made my script keeping self-defence in mind. Varmam, the deadliest martial art form has been given importance.” Besides providing technical expertise, Samy Fecih has been roped in for a crucial role in the film.
