Ilaiyaraaja the hero of Kalathur Gramam
Saran K Advaitha, who has worked in many films including Chinna Thayee, which was talked about for its soulful music, turns independent with a period film titled Kalathur Gramam. “Even as I wrote the script, I had Ilaiyaraaja sir in mind as he can only do justice to this rural family action drama,” Saran opens up to us. The film features Kishore in two different looks from 80s to 2000s respectively. Actress Yagna Shetty from Sandalwood is making her foray in Tamil.
“Set in Andhra Pradesh and the Tamil Nadu border with dry barren lands, the film deals with the conflict that prevailed between the police and Kishore, who had been involved in a particular activity. Sunil Kumar will be seen in a crucial role,” reveals Saran.
“When we approached Raja sir, he listened to the script, but persisted that we complete the movie and then come to him for composition,” Saran adds. “When he saw the film, he got emotional — it was so moving that he teared up. He immediately said that he wanted to do something different in terms of sound. Moreover, he never spoke about the remuneration and we were asked to pay his technicians only. Undoubtedly, Raja sir’s music is the hero of the film,” he shares
The movie, produced by AR Movie Paradise, has been certified with U/A even after the makers approached the revising committee, and agreed to cut sequences from the movie.
