Sangam polls: Shouldn’t be fighting like this, says Karthi
The Nadigar Sangam elections are kicking up quite a storm. So much so, actor Karthi is expressing his feeling that there should never be elections for the Sangam. Hs himself is the candidate for the Treasurer’s post as well as the incumbent now, but with the two teams headed by Nasser and Bhagyaraj running no-holds barred campaigns, Karthi is left wondering whether polls are necessary at all.
Speaking at the recent campaign meet at Salem, a place where theatre and cinema flourished, actor Karthi lashed out at the opposition team including Isari Ganesh who was earlier with Pandavar Ani but has initiated the other team named Sankaradas Swamy Ani.
“They are blatantly lying that the building work has stopped for the last one and a half years when the Sangam dream building is standing tall right in front of our eyes. In fact, in that time, the construction was going on at a very brisk pace after clearing innumerable unwanted legal cases. I am surprised that a person like Isari, who knew the full background, points this as a reason to form a team and stand against us. This not healthy.”
He adds, “We are wasting lot of time. We have left our family and doing it as service. We have conducted shows just to raise the building and what’s the respect we get for our selfless work? Why at all we are contesting in elections? But, having worked so much, we can’t leave it so easily. So, to complete the dream building, we would definitely fight it out! Rather than working on finishing the building, we are made to run for votes, which is annoying. Instead of holding talks and working together for Sangam welfare, here we are fighting to prove who the leader is. There should not be any election at all! Instead of conducting this election, we all could have stayed united and finished constructing Nadigar Sangam building.”
