Versatile actor Charlie who returned with a significant role in the thriller Vellai Pookal speaks to DC about his experiences working as one of the leads in top artist turned filmmaker Rajavel’s Krishna debut film Pizhai. The children’s film with a message about the importance of education, has Mime Gopi and George, besides Charlie, essaying the fathers of child artistes Kakka Muttai Ramesh, Appa Nasath and new boy Gokul.

Speaking at the audio launch of Pizhai, Charlie says, “After a long time, Pizhai is a film which has been taken with a lot of guts. Producer Damodharan has trusted the good content and invested his money. This film will go places.”

On Rajavel, he says, “Since he is well known artiste at national level, he has stepped into to make a painting on celluloid. He chiselled each and every character and given beautiful arcs to them. Even though it is his first film, he worked like a seasoned filmmaker. I was amazed with his clarity. Also, since the story revolves around granite stone quarries, he is particular that we should shoot only in real locations. So, instead of sets, we would walk hours together to reach quarries which are not motorable.” The kids have also put up an extraordinary effort.
