Actor Sharran turns filmmaker

Directing a few short films like Tea or Coffee etc., which were appreciated, gave him the necessary energy to plunge into a commercial cinema.

Actor Bharath has signed a dark thriller. The yet to be titled film is directed by none other than actor turned filmmaker Sharran Kumar who debuted with Prakash Raj’s Inidhu Inidhu and later did films like CSK and Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam. He says he is keener on making films than to don grease paint.

“I never wanted to become an actor. It was just accidental. I had been to an ad shoot to ask whether I could assist the director. Much to my surprise, they asked me to give auditions for a film. That’s how my passion for direction deviated (smiles). However, after a few movies, I took a call deciding to stay behind the camera. I rejected a few films and concentrated on my script for more than a year,” Sharran discloses.

Directing a few short films like Tea or Coffee etc., which were appreciated, gave him the necessary energy to plunge into a commercial cinema. Talking about how he roped in Bharath, he says, “It was the script which did the magic. Bharath was very impressed with the first narration itself and instantly gave a nod to be a part of this film. He will be seen essaying the role of a businessman, who is caught in a complicated situation of saving his family from an inescapable danger. This will not be a hero-driven film, but instead will offer it emphasis on every character.”
