Varalaxmi Sarathkumar stages her own kidnapping, gets slammed mercilessly

Mumbai: A top Malayalam actress' recent abduction and alleged assault and molestation had shocked people and sent the authorities and cops into a frenzy.

Bollywood celebrities and their south counterparts had proclaimed solidarity with the actress, who herself had bounced back within a few days, joining her film set.

The condemnable issue had sparked a fresh controversy on the safety of women in the country.

However, not everyone seems to be empathising with her ordeal.

Tamil actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar brought back horrible memories of the previous incident into people's minds. A sinister picture of the actress tied to a bed, gagged and tied up went viral on the internet, accompanied by a caption saying the actress has been kidnapped.

A PR further added fuel by confirming the news, and people were alarmed at the latest 'development'.

But when the reaction of the people became increasingly concerned, Varalaxmi and the makers of her upcoming film revealed that it had all been a promotional activity, much to the disgust of the people.

“I’m absolutely fine..thank u for urconcern..it’s a part of our movie promotion.. announcement at 6pm..!!.” she tweeted.

The makers also instantly went into damage control mode, asserting, “Sweet surprise to @varusarath for her movie promotions...she wasn't aware of this..All is well and always well for @varusarath.”

The actress might not get a respite from this sensational misjudgment any time soon.
