Savithri's biopic gets bigger!
It was announced recently that the biopic of legendary actress Savitri is set to take shape as a feature film. Director Nag Ashwin has come up with a compelling script, which will feature Keerthy Suresh as Savitri. The film will also see Samantha essaying the role of a journalist. The shooting of this Tamil–Telugu bilingual will commence during the second week of May.
While the team is busy with the pre-production, a source in the know reveals to DC, “The film will chronicle the life of Savitri from the 1940s to 80s. The script will focus majorly on the relationship between Gemini Ganesan and Savitri. It is going to be a multi-starrer and the team has approached Prakash Raj and Anushka Shetty for important roles.”
Another highlight of the film is that it will feature two blockbuster hits of Savitri and Gemini Ganesan. “The duo gave numerous hits, out of which Mayabazar and Missiamma will be featured in the biopic. Both the films turned out to be huge hits in Tamil and Telugu. A few portions of the film will be shot in Guntur.” Missiamma became a talking point in 1955, because there was a rumour doing rounds then that Gemini Ganesan and Savitri were having an affair.
Jointly produced by Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinemas, the first look poster of the film, was unveiled on March 8. Composer Mickey J Meyer will be scoring the tunes for the movie, and he has already started working on it.
