I am grateful to all my fans: AR Rahman
Without my fans, I am nothing,” remarked musical genius A.R. Rahman, after performing for a 90-min concert at the IIFA Awards held in New York — which felicitated his 25-year long career in Indian cinema. Unlike the Londoners, New York audiences were very receptive to the mix of ARR’s Tamil and Hindi tracks, thus indicating that ‘music has no language barriers’ indeed.
Interacting with the press, Rahman reportedly said, “I think it was kind of IIFA to invite me and celebrate 25 years of my musical journey. I loved performing, even though it was raining heavily. We were actually terrified, since it was raining and our equipment were all wet. The band was courageous and people were very supportive. We enjoyed the concert and that gave us the energy to perform.”
The double Oscar winner responded to the query on the latest Wembley controversy saying, “I am grateful to all who have supported me all these years.”
At IIFA, Rahman played a mix of Tamil and Bollywood numbers, including Urvasi Urvasi, Humma Humma, Dil Se, Maiyya Maiyaa and needless to say, his Oscar award winning track, Jai Ho, with top singers Hariharan, Kailash Kher, Mika Singh, Mohit Chauhan, Jonita Gandhi, Neeti Mohan, Javed Ali, Kamaal Khan and Haricharan Seshadri, among others jamming alongside.
