Madhavan was last seen in the neo-noir action thriller Vikram Vedha, where he shared screen space with Vijay Sethupathi. Presently he is busy gearing up for his upcoming film Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. The film is a biographical drama based on the life of former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan of the Indian Space Research Organization, who was falsely charged with espionage and released after many years. Madhavan will not only be essaying the titular role in the film but has also taken director avatar with this movie, which chronicles the different stages of Nambi’s life, from the age of 27 to 75.
Recently, Maddy took to his social media handle to introduce the female lead of the film. Actress Simran Bagga will play the character of Meena Nambi, wife of Nambi Narayanan. The lovely pair will be reuniting on the big screen after 17 long years. They came together in Mani Ratnam’s 2002 film Kannathil Muthamittal, where Madhavan played the role of Thiruchelvan while Simran’s character was named Indira.
Referring to their characters, Maddy shared a collage of pictures with his costar Simran from the sets of Rocketry and wrote on his social media page — “15 years later Thiru and Indira turn into Mr and Mrs Nambi Narayanan.”
Maddy and Simran have also worked together in K. Balachander’s 100th film Paarthale Paravasam released in 2001.
While Sam CS composes the tracks, the film will be shot simultaneously in Hindi, Tamil and English, with the Tamil version titled as Rocketry: Nambi Vilaivu.
