A new inning for Vela Ramamoorthy
Ever since popular writer Vela Ramamoorthy forayed into acting, there has been no looking back. In three years, the actor has been offered great roles and has received many accolades for his performances. Now, Ramamoorthy has a slew of films including Gautham Menon’s Enai Noki Paayum Thotta, in different stages of production.
Speaking to DC, he says, “So far, I have only played village roles and ENPT will see me in a modern avatar. When I heard that I would be essaying the role of Dhanush’s father, I instantly agreed. I will be sporting casual tees and jeans in the film, and I even learnt horse riding.”
Vela Ramamoorthy is also busy writing a screenplay based on his book, Kuttra Parambarai, which will be helmed by Bala. “I have completed the first half of the film and it might go on floors in May. The greatest challenge in writing a script for Bala is that I wouldn’t want him to edit or cut anything that I write. Before Kutra Parambarai, he will do another film and I have an important character to play in that movie,” he explains. He also adds that two of his other stories will also be made into films.
The Appa actor also feels that he is being treated with love and respect in the cine industry. “Post Kidaari, I listened to 25 scripts. If I like the script, I am ready to do the film even without any remuneration. So far, I haven’t picked any films just because I know the director or producer,” he quips. Currently, he has Aramm, Thondan and Padhungi Paayanum Thala in his kitty.
