Sonakshi Sinha and Arvind Swamy to team up?
It seems like Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha will finally be back in Tamil post her much-talked about film, Lingaa, with Superstar Rajinikanth. This time around, she has been approached for the Tamil remake of M’town blockbuster, Bhaskar the Rascal. The Malayalam movie, directed by Siddique, had Mammootty and Nayanthara in the lead, who played parents to small kids. The film was a family entertainer, where Mammootty essayed a short-tempered widower, while Nayan played a single parent.
Earlier Rajinikanth was approached by the makers to reprise Mammootty — but since he turned down the offer, they were waiting for the right choice. Finally, Arvind Swamy, who made a comeback with Thani Oruvan, was finalised for the male lead. Interestingly, the actor has become a name to reckon with now, as his Dhruva, the T’town version of Thani Oruvan is doing well in AP.
Sources say that Nayan, when approached, was not keen to do the film yet again in Tamil. The remake rights have been bought by producer Murugan, who earlier did films like Jannal Oram and the recent Shenbagakottai. He confirms that Swamy has been brought on board and did agree that they wanted Nayanthara to be part of Tamil as well. “Siddique will be directing the Tamil version as well,” Murugan told DC. He was, however, tight lipped about Sonakshi being on board. A source close to him informed us that Amala Paul is also a strong contender to play the heroine. But in all probability, the Akira star seems to be the front runner as she has agreed to hear the script, he adds.
