At the promo event of VS Palanivel’s Saaya, actress Namitha, who joined AIADMK recently, expressed her concern over the growing incidents of sexual abuse against children.
“I was extremely happy when I heard that the film is about parenting and it aims to impart a huge message to the society. Since politics and cinema are two ways by which one can do good to the society, I am showing keen interest in politics,” she revealed.
She was also quick to add, “I am going to talk about an issue which many artistes would shun speaking about. Today, we come across so many cases of child sexual abuse, which is scary. And it is happening around us all the time; even within one’s family. So, parenting does not end when one provides quality education.
Children should be taught about ‘good touch’ and ‘bad touch’. Parents should discuss important issues with their children and should convey to them in a way they can understand. It is up to them to make sure that their children are sufficiently equipped and prepared to confront such situations in life.”
