Actor Vijay has to take a call, says his dad

Meanwhile, Vijay's dad filmmaker SA Chandrashekar says it is not a new phenomenon.

Actor Vijay requested his fans not to celebrate his birthday, which falls on June 22 as a mark of respect for the departed souls in Thoothukudi police firing. However, Thalapathy’s Tirunelveli fans are in the mood to celebrate and the walls of Nellai have been adorned with a poster saying, ‘Naalaya Mudhalvare’ (Chief Minister of Tomorrow). It is not new for these Vijay fans of Nellai as they had created a record by making a 4,000-foot poster wishing their matinee idol for his birthday last year.

Meanwhile, Vijay’s dad filmmaker SA Chandrashekar says it is not a new phenomenon. “Fans have been doing this for the last 15 years. To show their love and affection, they have been putting up posters addressing him as ‘Varungaala Mudhalvare’ (Future CM). Rajini’s fans started doing this 25 years ago.

As Vijay’s dad, I wish that he becomes somebody important in the country and whether it is accomplished by entering into politics or not, I don’t know. The call has to be taken by Vijay. Similarly, his fans yearn for him to take up the mantle. There’s nothing wrong in it.”
