Anjali joins hands with Jai again for a movie after they reportedly parted ways a few years ago. Looks like the duo got back together on Anjali’s birthday, June 16. The two were seen exchanging wishes on their social media handle with Anjali replying to Jai saying, “Thank you J this is the best n happiest b’dy, be with me always :)” A surprise official statement from debut director Sinish, which stated that he has roped in the hit pair of Engeym Eppodhum for his upcoming untitled horror film, added to speculations about their reunion.

The actress, who migrated to Tollywood after her family controversies, is on a roll in K’town with films like Mapla Singam and Karthik Subbaraj’s recent Iraivi. One may recall Anjali had earlier stated that she would never work with Jai after rumours that they were in a serious relationship spread after their hit movie EE. We ask Sinish, who had worked with Nelson in Vettai Mannan about how he convinced Anjali and brought her on board.

He tells DC, “After finalising Jai, I had approached another heroine who is also popular in Telugu. We had almost finalised her when one of her T’town film dates clashed. I had hardly anytime on my hand since we wanted to start the project in the first week of July. That is when I saw the trailer of Iraivi. I thought why not approach Anjali, but I didn’t have any access to her. I took Jai’s help to contact her. I asked only one question to him, whether Anjali looks the same as in Iraivi. He said, ‘no she has shed a few kilos and looks slim’. I met her when she was here in Chennai and narrated the script and she liked it and gave her nod. I found her professional.”

While Anjali essays an IT girl, this is the first time Jai is attempting the horror genre. He also has three different looks in the movie, which includes a period segment against a 1989 backdrop, he adds. Is there more than one heroine in the film, we query — “Not exactly, but Jai does have a pairing in the period setup and we are yet to finalise her”, the director reveals. Our sources disclose that Janani Iyer is the front contender for that role!
