Political thriller offers rollercoaster ride

Venkat speaks to DC about Unarvu with the tagline of ‘a game on a human brain’ and which has already made it to international film festivals.

Popular Kannada filmmaker Venkat, who won a state award for his critically acclaimed film Kempirve, is making his Tamil debut with the political thriller Unarvu. While there’s no hero or heroine in the film, there are six different characters played by veteran Suman, model turned actress Navya, Shinav and Arul Shankar.

Venkat speaks to DC about Unarvu with the tagline of ‘a game on a human brain’ and which has already made it to international film festivals. “Like people are lured to invest in gold, share market etc., similarly my film is set on the theme of how politicians cleverly make common people invest their brains for their own gains. Suman essays a chief minister of a state. The new content is the highlight of the film. You can’t predict the next scene. I am sure audiences will have a roller-coaster ride and I have made it crisply with a run time of 2 hours 3 minutes,” reveals the director who has changed his name to Subu Venkat for Tamil.

Music is composed by Nakul from AR Rahman’s School. The movie has already won awards at the Berlin Film Fest, Dadasaheb Phalke Film Fest and Kalasamrudhi Fest in Mumbai. “Since Unarvu has a pan Indian content, I am planning to dub it in Hindi as well,” Subu says.
