Kollywood stars in model poll queue mode on D-Day

Vijay decided to be diplomatic as he just posed candidly for the cameras.

Chennai: Keeping their civic responsibility in the forefront, Kollywood’s biggest stars turned up for voting. The heartening part about the participation of the Kollywood brigade this time out was the fact that most of them waited in the queue along with the general public, completely unmindful of their stardom.

Rajinikanth who looked his usual simple self, urged people to vote stating, “Everyone should vote, that is a duty.” Kamal Haasan set a striking example to his counterparts by flying down to Chennai to vote, despite earlier claiming that he might miss voting due to the shoot of his film Sabaash Naidu. He was accompanied by Gautami and Akshara Haasan.

Ajith, who went along with his wife Shalini, in the early hours, avoided what could so easily have caused a controversy - contrary to the conventional practice of getting it on the left index finger, the actor got inked on the right middle finger. But, he sensibly showed the face of his entire palm to the shutterbugs after casting his vote!

On the other hand, Vijay decided to be diplomatic as he just posed candidly for the cameras. Best friends Arya and Jiiva were all smiles and the former, after casting his vote, even jokingly tweeted, “Thalaivaaaa...Building katroom apparam Katchi Arambikiroom aduthe election jaikroom #PuraitchiThalapathy (sic)”
Among the notable celebs to have missed to turn up on the D-day were Suriya, who apologised to people for not being able to come down to the city as he’s holidaying with his family in the USA, and music composer A R Rahman.
Other prominent stars to have cast their vote included Trisha, Prabhu, Radhika Sarathkumar, Sivakarthikeyan, Arul Nidhi, Atharvaa, Meena, Siddharth and many others.

However, the conduct of a few members of the public could not be appreciated. As the celebrities were going about their duty of casting their vote calmly, many people thronged around them to get a glimpse of the stars and even tried to take selfies with their favourites during the time of polling. It was a surprise that no one lost his temper … but then again, namma actors are probably used to this reaction!
