After a Belgian Shepherd, pugs to play lead roles!

These pooches were trained by Lawrence of a renowned production house Devar Films, (known for making movies with animals).

A few actors don’t mind downplaying themselves. When Sibiraj acted in Naaigal Jaakirathai, he said that he didn’t mind playing a second fiddle to a Belgian Shepherd, which he claimed was the real hero of the film. Following suit, Nitin Sathyaa is essaying a similar kind of role in a film titled Naaikutty Padam, which has Tony and Geno, two pugs as the main leads! Shruti Ramakrishnan has been roped in to play Nitin’s pair.

Filmmaker Ranga says, “The taste of audiences are constantly changing, so we wanted to give something different from the usual. We bought these two pugs — a male and a female for a huge sum and took care of them for a period of six months. In fact, just like how we treat our heroes and heroines!

These pooches were trained by Lawrence of a renowned production house Devar Films, (known for making movies with animals). They drink and shower in only bottled water. Also, we had to take them to the Animal Welfare Board for their approval before shooting.”

So, what’s the film all about? “Nitin’s dog Tony goes missing. While Nitin and Shruti along with Geno, go in search of Tony, they face a group of thugs and a couple of politicians, who’re involved in this. What happens thereon forms the rest of the story,” he concludes.
