Director and actor Samuthirakani is currently working on Soundarya Rajinikanth’s Velaiyilla Pattadhari 2, starring Dhanush, Amala Paul and Kajol. Apart from VIP 2, he has half a dozen films — five in Tamil and one in Malayalam. Now, we hear that the actor is set to play a challenging role in director VZ Durai’s (of Mugavaree and Nepali fame) next outing.
Speaking about his film, Durai says, “I have finalised Samuthirakani as the lead for my story, which has a four-layered script. Hence, Kani will be sporting four different looks for each layer! For the first time, he will be doing a full-fledged role as a hero and I hope other directors take note of his acting prowess after seeing the movie. My story has an interesting screenplay, and there is a second lead along with two heroines.”
Delving deep into Samuthirakani’s character, the director reveals, “Kani has a separate love track, which will have a fantasy element. His character will be seen in a live-in relationship. Since he has different looks in the film, he told me that he’d finish present commitments and concentrate solely on my project.”
When we ask him about the film’s title, he addresses, “Several reports have published that Yemali is the title. But, it is not so! My title is a combination of English and Tamil letters and people would understand the importance of the title only after they see the poster.”
VZ Durai is also introducing Sam D as the composer in this film, “Sam and his western band have completed three songs and we have attempted to bring new sound and arrangements with our music. Jeyamohan pens the dialogues and Sudharshan handles the editing. We have roped in two cinematographers — Rethish and Prakash — to show a difference between the layers,” he asserts. Shooting of this venture will go on floors in the first week of April in Chennai....
