Lingusamy jokes he has alternative profession
At the book release event of his Haiku Poems titled Lingu Haiku, ace director Lingusamy recalled his first salary of Rs 30 that he received for his three line poem which got published in a popular vernacular magazine. That gave him the confidence to pack his bags and shift to Chennai to pursue his passion—cinema. Actor and TFPC president Vishal unveiled the first set and handed it over to actress Keerthy Suresh.
Speaking on the occasion, an emotionally charged Lingusamy said, "I am reminded of a famous poem by great Rabindranath Tagore, 'you don't choose good things in life. Good things choose you.' It is very much relevant to my situation and this dais where all my friends are present is proof of it. Be it 25 years of 25 months of my friendship, all of them have been influential in every aspect of my decisions.
It was Balaji sir who happens to be the first one to read and appreciate my poem getting me a chance to work as assistant director. My association with writer Brindha Sarathy has been a long journey. Apparently, a three-line poem of mine published in Ananda Vikatan got me a prize money of Rs 30. This encouraged me to come to Chennai and establish myself as a writer." The filmmaker who has come a long way added in a lighter vein that he has an alternative profession for survival.
Professor Gnanasamban-dham, filmmaker Balaji Sakthivel, Vasantha Balan, Poet Brindha Sarathy, choreographer Raju Sundaram, writer S Ramakrishnan were among other who graced the event.
