Vetri Maaran heaps praises on Pawal
Pawal Navageethan, who came into the film industry to become a director, is an actor to be reckoned with today. A theatre personality who has trained people, it was Bramma’s national award winning film Kuttram Kadhithal, where he played the lead, that won him critical acclaim. Having worked in films like Madras and Magalir Mattum, Pawal will be seen as the main villain in Dhanush’s upcoming film Vada Chennai in Vetri Maaran’s direction.
“I went back to direction and completed a film which has Vishnu Priya and Castro in the lead. It is yet to get released. However, when Vetri sir called me for Vada Chennai, without asking any question, I just jumped at it. I have immense faith in Vetri Maaran sir and even if it is a minuscule role, I was ready to do it as I knew it would make a difference in my career.”
On his role, he says, “I play Shiva, and it’s a mix of both positive and negative (smiles). It started off as ten days work and got extended to many days and several scenes were added. Sir would give on the spot dialogues. There are high octane fight sequences with Dhanush where I was hurt badly and bled profusely. “When I was in a wavering mind to continue as a director or actor, it was Vetri Maaran’s words which made to opt for the latter. “You have a big place in the industry as an actor’, he complimented. So, I will concentrate on acting venture hereafter,” he signs off.
