Sumanth Radhakrishnan’s Sadhuram 2, which is inspired by the Hollywood film franchise Saw, grabbed everyone’s attention when James Wan (Saw’s director) tweeted the poster claiming it as a remake of his film. Sumanth is on cloud nine, with his film getting international recognition from his idol James Wan, even before its release.
“The audience sees Saw as a slasher movie, but it has a beautiful message. I haven’t tried to include any moral as such in my film, Sadhuram 2. Instead, it focuses on the message — Appreciate Life’,” says Sumanth.
When asked how Tamil audiences would receive movies with gore and murder, he says, “I just can’t do a rip-off of Saw. I made the necessary changes to the script, and it will have a mix of everything. This is one of the reasons that I unveiled a two-minute footage from the film.”
Sadhuram 2 starring Yog Japee, Kaushik, Riaz, Suja Varunee, and Sanam Shetty was shot around Chennai in 35 days. But the director has decided to release the second part of Sadhuram first! “The second part dives right into action and I don’t need to explain anything. After seeing the reception for Sadhuram 2, I will plan the release of the first installment,” he concludes.
