Varsha Bollamma is a happy girl with no regrets, as her journey in the film industry has taken everyone by surprise! People hail her as a Nazriya look-alike from her famous Dubsmash videos, but the actress is a self-made woman. “It is reported everywhere that I received film opportunities from my Dubsmash videos. However, when I recorded the videos, I was already doing my third film.
Those videos gave me the recognition I need,” she says, to start off the interview.
The Sathuran actress now has five films in her kitty — Yaanum Theeyavan, Ivan Yaar Endru Therigiradha, Seemaanin Seemaati, and two more untitled films. When quizzed about her journey so far, she rues, “I was initially skeptical about entering the industry, but with the films I have done — I can proudly say that it’s been incredible.”
Varsha is extremely happy with the roles she is getting so far. “These days, actresses are not opting for clichéd roles. And I certainly do not want to. If you see in Vetrivel, I played a village belle; in Ivan Yaar Endru Therigiradha, I play a very serious role. I am looking for different roles as I want to be known as an actress who can perform extraordinarily well, like Nithya Menen and Parvathy.”
So, will she be seen in modern roles? The actress adds that doing modern roles doesn’t mean going ultra-glamorous or showing off her skin. “It is all about what clothes I am comfortable wearing. I don’t want to ruin any scene by wearing something revealing on screen,” she states.
Varsha has signed a couple more films and has planned to take things slow after she is done with her present commitments.
