Sachu: Proud to have debuted as heroine in Tirulokchandar sir's film

It was a proud moment to have got debuted as a heroine through A.C. Tirulokchandar sir in Veera Thirumagan. I was hardly 15 and there were divided views in casting me as the female lead. But he insisted that I suited the role he had conceived and brought me on board. He made me popular with a single song Roja Malare Rajakumari which is an evergreen number.

His approach towards artistes was extraordinary. He would enact each and every scene. He was a voracious reader and fond of watching Hollywood films. Though he specialised in remakes, he gave his own touch to them. Later, he gave me chance as comedian in Engirundho Vandhal alongside Nagesh and Avan Thaan Manidhan with Cho.

He valued friendship very much. We were in touch with each other till recently and since I got busy with films now, he called and said ‘He was happy for me’ . A wonderful person and it is like a personal loss to me. But, I consoled myself since I visited him recently at the hospital.
