Kaala to lock horns with Jurassic series

will Jurassic affect Kaala or vice versa? The films may have different audiences but they will be competing at the B.O. in June.

Superstar Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated gangster drama Kaala is to lock horns now with Chris Pratt’s Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom at the marquees. Kaala was to have been released much earlier but it got held up and was pushed back from its planned April 27 launch, first due to the shutdown in K’town because of the strike and then good theatres were just not available in Andhra and Telengana because of Tollywood stars’ films running to capacity

The core audience may be quite different but the youth can be expected to be equally attracted to the Jurassic World series film whose earlier instalment was a blockbuster collecting '100 crore in the Indian market. Moviegoers may be expected to favour the second part of the movie too at the box-office.

The power of Kaala, directed by Pa. Ranjith and produced by Dhanush under his home banner Wunderbar Films along with Lyca Productions, may lie in the number of screens it can command at release. It is expected to hit the maximum possible screens in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. There is a lot riding on Rajini’s movie and the Superstar himself had spoken about some of his films which had flopped at the box office while releasing the audio for Kaala. The buzz is that this film will be a late career defining movie for the star who intends to get busy in politics soon.

The movie Kaala also features Huma Qureshi, Nana Patekar, Easwari Rao, Sampath, Sayaji Shinde and Samudhrakani in pivotal roles.
