Gautami not contesting in by-polls

However, when DC contacted the actress, her spokesperson denied any such move and rubbished them as baseless rumours.

The city was abuzz with the rumour that actress Gautami Tadimalla, who has been raising her voice for various social issues of late, will be contesting in the by-elections from RK Nagar constituency. The by-election is scheduled for April 12 on the BJP ticket. The seat fell vacant after the demise of former CM J Jayalalithaa. While the ruling party, AIADMK, in the state has reportedly announced TTV Dinakaran as their candidate, there’s the OPS faction and the DMK, etc.

Now, it is being reported that Gautami is the front-runner to contest at RK Nagar, since BJP honchos feel that she would be the ideal candidate, as she was among the first to demand a probe into Jayalalithaa’s death. Close sources also indicate that if Gautami turns down the offer, they have Tamilisai Soundrajan and composer Gangai Amaran in the fray.

However, when DC contacted the actress, her spokesperson denied any such move and rubbished them as baseless rumours. “For the last two days, she has been getting calls continuously enquiring about her entering politics. Gautami ma’am is never getting into politics. She feels that she can continue to serve the society even without being in politics.”
