Choreographer Sorna turns filmmaker
We've had several male choreographers of the Tamil film industry try their hand at filmmaking including Prabhu Deva, Lawrence, Baba Bhaskar and Robert. But it is for the first time that a female choreographer is following in the footsteps of Bollywood's Farah Khan and occupying the director's chair.
Dance master Sorna, who began her career as a choreographer with Bharathiraj's film Pasumpon before going on to do another 800 films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bhojpuri, and Oriya, is wielding the megaphone for Nathiru Thinaa.
“It is a story is set in a multi-storeyed apartment building, and it’s about a group of people who’ve grown up there. The film focuses on their various emotions — love, friendship, compassion, pain, and happiness. I will be introducing some fresh faces in the film —Sabyachee, Shyam, Mahi, Teja, Radhika Preethi, Haarika and Bhavani. And the cast also includes Tarun Master, Rani, Vijayalakshmi and Nageshara Rao. It will be a fun-filled film and I have written an interesting screenplay for it,” Sorna tells DC.
Muralidharraki, who has worked with noted musicians like KV Mahadevan, Shyam and Chakri in the past, is making his debut as an independent composer with NT.
