Why is Vidhi Madhi Ultaa special for Janani Iyer?

The actress plays a two-dimensional role in the film, directed by Vijay Balaji.

Janani Iyer, who is shuttling between Tamil and Malayalam films, is on a roll of sorts. The actress has been offered myriad characters of late, that has helped prove her versatility. In her forthcoming flick Vidhi Madhi Ultaa, directed by Vijay Balaji, a former assistant to AR Murugadoss — we hear that she will be seen in a two-dimensional role. The film has Rameez Raja in the lead. Daniel Balaji and Karunakaran among others play the supporting cast.

“VMU is a comedy thriller and has a quirky theme. I play Divya, who is a bubbly college girl. My character will have different dimensions in the pre- and post-interval portions.”

She elaborates — “The main challenge I had to face was that my character had to be serious, but the incidents that took place around me were funny. That way, I took many takes while shooting, because each time a humorous scene was shot, I would burst into laughter and the director was forced to say ‘cut’! The film has shaped up really well.”

Heaping praise on the director, she says, “Vijay is very focused and knows exactly what he wants from his cast. He never made any compromise at any point of time.”

Janani’s kitty is full, with projects like Balloon (set in the 80’s), Athe Kangal with CV Kumar, and Thollaikaatchi with Ashwin Kakamanu.
