Rajinikanth's next film not based on Haji Mastan, says producer

Sunder also added that any attempt to make a film on Haji Mastan would invite legal action from his end.

Chennai: Recently, Sundar Shaekhar, who claims to be the adopted son of Haji Mastan, sent a notice to Superstar Rajinikanth, warning him about making a film on his father’s life.

Sunder also added that any attempt to make a film on Haji Mastan would invite legal action from his end. The upcoming movie, directed by Pa. Ranjith, is being bankrolled by his son-in-law Dhanush under his home banner. Being the untitled movie’s producer, Dhanush clarified his stand in a statement here on Sunday.
Dhanush said, “the movie is not based on the life of Mumbai’s late Haji Mastan.

The film is not even a biopic or inspired by real life incidents. It is purely a fictional story, which has Mumbai backdrop. Even director Ranjith has been clarifying this to whomsoever who contacted him over phone”.

It was reported earlier that the 66-year-old actor would be seen as a don once again in Ranjith’s movie with whom he collaborated earlier for Kabali. Buzz is that a huge set resembling Dharavi slums of Mumbai is being erected at a whooping cost of '5 crore in Chennai where a major chunk of the film shoot is expected to take place.
