Vaigha goes de-glam for Aruvadai
Vaigha, who has played significant roles in Malayalam films — Ennu Ninte Moideen and How Old Are You? is now venturing into Kollywood with Aruvadai.
This film, directed by debutant Lawrence Ram talks about the plight of the farmers.
Explaining how she landed up in Tamil films, she says, “I was staying in Kochi and had to relocate to Chennai because of my father’s business. I took a two-year-long break to do my MBA. That is when I was approached for Aruvadai. I must be thankful to choreographer Rekha who was instrumental in getting this offer.”
Vaigha had to don a de-glamourous role in Aruvadai — “I am modern and outgoing in real life and to perfect the look of a villager was extremely difficult. I opted for self make-up and chose tea powder and head bun to get the look right.”
The actress also added that she wouldn’t call it as a commercial film, but an honest attempt in showcasing a farmer’s life and struggle. Shooting of Aruvadai — in which the director is doubling up as the hero — is expected to release in February.
