Kamal Haasan may commit to another film

Mulls sequel to cult classic Thevar Magan

Kamal Haasan had said that Indian 2, a sequel to his hit movie in Shankar’s direction, will be his last film as he wants to concentrate on politics with focus and conviction. In a television interview last week, he made a surprise announcement that a sequel to his 1992 cult classic blockbuster Thevar Magan, directed by Bharathan, is on the cards. The actor turned politician said he would be completing his acting career with these two sequels.

The actor-turned-politician has done a bit of a flip-flop in announcing his idea of acting in Thevar Magan 2 after having spoken of taking to full time politics. His fans are, however, said to be happy as their allegiance is first to Kamal the actor although he is fully into politics, including in his anchoring of the Bigg Boss 2 shows in which he made all his political views known.

His party Makkal Needhi Maiam is ultra-active with regular meetings even as Kamal drew huge crowds wherever he went last week in the Salem area. His party raised complaints of permissions being denied by the local administrations for putting up a dais for holding public meetings, but the crowds continue to pour in for the Ulaganayagan Regarding the film, Thevar Magan 2 will be his third sequel in a row after Vishwaroopam 2 and Indian 2. Reportedly, more details on the rest of the cast and crew will be announced in the coming days.

The original garnered critical acclaim besides being a huge hit at the box office, besides getting various awards and honours. The film fetched five National Awards, including ‘Best Tamil Film’. Thespian Sivaji Ganesan and Kamal Haasan played the lead roles and Revathi and Gautami essayed female leads.

Ulaganayagan’s fans, who want to see more of their matinee idol on the screens, have gone gaga over the announcement. Though some on the social media trolled Kamal Haasan, a majority tweeted in favour of his decision to act in one more film. They even lashed out on those who tried to troll the actor on the Internet. “DevarMagan is a step towards politics. His moustache is another symbol to attract the devar/mukkulathor community, the biggest community in TN, who were earlier voting for Sasikala/Panner combo, now both are weak,” tweeted Raj.

While some called him a clown, a few said he appears a confused person. Kannan says, “It’s heartening to see the media people jump on one answer from a hour long Q&A. These are the same people that pontificate to the rest of us ignorant souls about understanding the context, reading the whole thing and so on ... It doesn’t apply to them, it seems!”

Sarav tweets, “So simple guyz. He’s making his own money to run the party. He’s not cheating anyone”. And they also question those who trolled Kamal. “So you’ll pay for his day to day expense?! U ppl remain de-railed always.”

Yet another person Nallamani shot back saying, “We don’t raise any questions against ruling party and their activities not even a word about 85rs petrol price but we doubt on a person who has taken a step to sacrifice his job for the welfare of TN ppl. He is not getting bribes to run his party like others.”
“I think you guys are not watching BigBoss Tamil, there he answered the audience saying that he will continue acting in films to run his life. He said he will continue acting for his livelihood and will continue to be in politics!”, Vasanth Raman clarifies.

Venkatesh responded saying, “He said no one need to be a full time politician before”.Nat puts a valid point. “People can decide what they want to do in their career.. Seriously why this should bother?? If he flip-flopped on any of his poll promises after coming to a position in power, then Yes, we all should ASK.”

Ashok --Probably the effect of Viswaroopam 2 box office he might need earn more as @ikamalhaasan needs to spend more in public life. Kalaingar never quit cinema even after being CM, almost all politicians run multiple business n many r journalist also. cinema is best platform that can be.

“No flipping here. Get your facts right. He said & I quote, “He will stop acting once He occupies an office.” How do you expect a clean slate to run a party in TN ? Let him work for his bread and butter,” says yet another fan of Kamal Haasan. The verdict appears in favour of the actor who gave a huge hit like Thevar Magan.
