Vairamuthu lauds debut director Selvakannan

The film explores intense relationship in a family, Tamil culture and a grandfather's sacrifice for his grandson.

After a long time, I was extremely happy and had lovely experience writing lyrics for Nedunalvadai,” said multiple national award winner Vairamuthu. Praising director Selvakannan for giving him such an opportunity, he said, “When he approached me, he said he wanted all the songs in chaste (Nellai dialect) Tamil without the use of English words. It was a heartwarming moment for me. At a time when there’s a dearth of good Tamil titles, Selvakannan’s penchant for Tamil word ‘Nedunalvadai’ used in Tamil literature two thousand years ago is
laudable.”

The veteran adds, “I strongly feel songs should be integral part of the script and not forced ones. You would witness this in Nedunalvadai. The film explores intense relationship in a family, Tamil culture and a grandfather’s sacrifice for his grandson. If you look at history, any sacrifice would lead only to success. So, this film would be a huge hit.” The audio of the film, jointly produced by 50 students, was launched recently in front of the public.
