Ashwin and Swathi team up once again

Ashwin upcoming film Thiri is one such, which has the element of father-son bonding as its core.

Ashwin Kakamanu is a happy man these days. With his last movie Zero receiving critical acclaim, including the ‘Distinguished Design’ honour from Rocheston Accreditation Institute, the young actor is choosy about his scripts. His upcoming film Thiri is one such, which has the element of father-son bonding as its core. Playing his dad is none other than Jayaprakash.

Talking about Thiri, which is directed by debutant Ashok Amirtharaj, Ashwin said, “I play a guy who has just completed his college. My dad, a schoolteacher, is everything to me. He always expects me to be virtuous in life. His ambition is that I should choose the noble teaching profession after my higher studies. An incident that takes place in the college flips my life upside-down, and how I come out of the problem forms the rest.”

He adds that he shares a great off-screen rapport with Jayaprakash, which helped his on-screen performance too. “Swathi and I are coming together after Idharkuthane Aasaipattiya... she has a bubbly role and you can see the same dynamism in Thiri — although here it’s a different vibe, concludes Ashwin, whose future films include Thollaikatchi and Idhu Vedalam Sollum Kathai.
