After films like Kadhal and Mynaa, which had intense romance as their core theme, KJ Surendher is exploring the subject in a quirky manner in the film Maaya Bimbam in which yet another Malayalam import Janaki debuts as the heroine. Akash and Harirudhran essay male leads.
“The female lead is very crucial and I wanted someone who has a naïve look and still expresses everything through her eyes. I auditioned many Tamil girls and finally chose Janaki, who has large expressive eyes and performed well,” says Surendher about selecting Janaki.
Don’t pass any judgment on anyone without knowing about him/her is the message the film conveys, he adds. It is learnt that many top filmmakers have watched the film at a special screening and were heaping praise for its realistic approach.
