Thala Pola Varuma, a commercial entertainer, which was announced a year back, will go on floors tomorrow in Coimbatore. The film stars Ajith’s doppelganger KM Tejas and Yaaruda Mahesh fame heroine Dimple Chopra in the lead roles. The film boasts a huge ensemble cast that includes Radha Ravi, Aishwarya, Anupama Kumar, Chaams, Chinni Jayanth and Sangili Murugan.
Speaking to DC, director Soorajj S Kurup says, “The film was put on hold for a year due to financial constraints, but we are back again with the same spirit. It is a golden opportunity for me as I have been following Ajith since Kadhal Kottai. I don’t think any other director has got the opportunity to pay a tribute to Ajith with a film — in which the hero looks like his clone!”
Soorajj states that he learnt the filmmaking craft through his father, I Sasi, an experienced co-director in the Malayalam industry. “I made my debut as a screenwriter in a Malayalam film titled Thudakkam, but the film didn’t fare well. My father has been in the industry for 50 years and even though he opposes my career choice, my heart beats for cinema I am sure that Thala Pola Varuma will not disappoint the audience,” he shares.
Producer VK Saravanan and T Danny of Picture Perfect production house are bankrolling this project. “The formal pooja is being held today at Muthappar temple and the shooting starts for April 15 and will go on for 36 days,” adds Saravanan. Editor Jai Shankar, composer Faizal and choreographer Bobby are part of the technical team.
